Some customers are unable to load new messages or their channel sidebar

Issue Summary: On July 2, 2019 at 6:39 p.m. PDT, we received reports of messages and the channel sidebar not loading for some customers. We launched an investigation and by July 2 at 11:01 p.m. PDT, all customers were able to correctly connect and the issue was resolved.
