Incident

Trouble connecting to Slack and accessing some features

Issue summary:
On April 8, 2024 from 2:32 PM PDT to 3:27 PM PDT, some users were unable to sign in, connect to Slack, access threads, run workflows, join huddles, or perform other activities. Apps and integrations may also have been impacted.

One of our databases failed and our automated recovery systems were not able to remedy the situation, requiring manual intervention. Our manual intervention restored normal functionality for most features, but it was not fully successful. There were some remaining issues with workflows that required further data recovery steps.

During this additional remediation work, we inadvertently caused a brief connectivity issue, preventing users from connecting to Slack for a very short period on April 9, 2024 at around 10:05 PM PDT. At 10:18 PM PDT our automated recovery systems successfully rectified the issue, ending connectivity problems for all customers.

We resumed our remediation work and concluded our data recovery efforts, resolving all remaining workflow issues. Additionally, this work included measures to prevent the same database failure from reoccurring in future.

We had all hands on deck over here, and everyone should now be able to connect to Slack as normal once more.

We apologize for the disruption to your day.
