Issue Summary:
On Thursday, July 11, 2024, from 12:10 PM PDT to 12:12 PM PDT, a number of users had trouble loading messages in Slack.

Our internal monitoring systems alerted us of the unexpected spike in error rates which prompted our incident response processes to begin. Through our investigation, we determined that a recent data migration caused an unexpected influx of client reloads, which temporarily overwhelmed the database responsible for servicing the affected API calls.

As a result, an automated safety measure temporarily paused traffic until the database returned to a healthy state. Once error rates returned to normal, users were no longer experiencing trouble.

From approximately 12:10 PM to 12:12 PM PDT, some users encountered issues sending messages in Slack and loading threads. Users should no longer be experiencing issues, we apologize for the inconvenience.
