Incident

A small number of users experiencing lagging behavior when using mentions on Android

Issue summary: From August 27, 2024, at around 8:17 PM PDT until August 28, 2024, around 1:39 PM PDT, some Android users experienced performance issues while trying to use mentions. We rolled back a feature flag related to the message composer on Android. This change unexpectedly introduced an error in backend logic when users attempted a mention, causing the UI to become overwhelmed and unresponsive. We identified the cause and re-enabled the feature, gradually rolling it out to users and resolving the issue for those affected. We also determined that the app crash issue mentioned in our updates was unrelated to the performance issues. You can review our summary of that incident here: https://slack-status.com/2024-08/459426ecb123c558. We apologize for any confusion.

We will continue to work directly with affected users through support tickets. For any additional questions, please contact us at feedback@slack.com. We apologize for any inconvenience.
