Incident

Trouble with some message or profile actions

Issue summary:
On September 30, 2024 from 8:00 AM PDT to 10:15 PM PDT, some users may have encountered errors when attempting to add or remove reactions, edit or delete messages, or update their user profile in Slack.

An internal service created very high load on a specific section of our infrastructure. This caused a spike in errors as the affected servers struggled to handle all the incoming requests.

We manually adjusted the capacity for the affected infrastructure so as to better handle the incoming traffic. This resolved the issue, restoring normal behaviour for all users.

7:43 PM PST

From approximately 8:00 AM PDT until 8:01 AM PDT, some users may have encountered errors when attempting to add or remove reactions, edit or delete messages, or update their user profile in Slack.

An internal monitoring system alerted us of an unexpected spike in error rates related to these features. While these error rates have returned to normal and users should no longer be experiencing any issues, we are investigating the root cause to reduce the likelihood of this reoccurring in the future. We apologize for any inconvenience caused.
