Some iOS Users Unable to See Message Field and Send Messages
From January 25, 2025 at 4:00 PM PST, to January 27, 2025 at 8:00 AM PST, users on iOS 16 were unable to send messages in the Slack for iOS app after updating to version 25.01.40.
We introduced some updates to the message composer in app version 25.01.40. However, these changes inadvertently caused a conflict with earlier workarounds intended to mitigate known issues with the iOS 16 keyboard. This caused the message composer to disappear when users tried to type messages.
We implemented a fix to remove this conflict in app version 25.01.41, which resolved the issue for all impacted users.
9:38 PM PST
We’ve resolved the issue with the message field missing on iOS. To obtain the fix, please update Slack to the latest version, 25.01.41, via the App Store. Thank you very much for your patience while we worked to get this fixed.
2:20 PM PST
We’ve determined that this issue affects only users on iOS 16, where the message field is not visible. To obtain the fix immediately, affected users can update their OS version to iOS 17 or later.
Users who are unable to update their OS versions can expect a fix to begin rolling out next week
