Incident

Issues with Search in Slack

incident done Summary

On March 10, 2025, from 12:47 PM PDT to 1:42 PM PDT, all users may have experienced issues with search in Slack. File, message, and channel searches did not return results, and the admin dashboard may not have loaded correctly.

A misconfiguration in our search-related infrastructure caused queries to fail to resolve.

To restore search behaviour, we scaled up our infrastructure and redirected incoming search requests to other servers. In parallel, we rolled back the incorrect configuration on the impacted search server. Once this was complete, we verified that the affected search server was functioning normally once again. We resumed the flow of search traffic to this server, fully resolving the issue for all users.
