Current status and recent actions taken: Further investigation of this issue has determined that Slack systems and services are operating within specifications and remain stable.  

Scope: Some users may have experienced issues accessing Direct Messages or Multi-person Direct Messages.

Required resolution steps: No additional steps are required.

Monitoring

Users should now be able to add people to group direct messages and send messages. We continue to monitor the service closely to ensure ongoing stability. We’ll provide another update if there are any changes. Thank you for your patience.

Cause Identified

Increased load on a messaging-related service has been identified as the cause of the issue. We have reduced the load, and are working to restore full messaging functionality. Additional capacity has also been added to prevent further impact.

We're aware of an issue impacting direct message functionality. Users are unable to add people to multi-person direct messages, and some users are experiencing errors when attempting to send messages.  We're investigating the cause and will update you as soon as we have more information.
