Incident

Some users are unable to upload, download, and view files in Slack.

Issue Summary:

Between 1:18 AM PST on February 21, 2024, and 5:35 AM PST on February 22, 2024, some users experienced issues resetting their passwords, especially when trying to set up two-factor authentication.

We traced the issue to a recent backend code change and reverted the change, which fixed the issue for all affected users.

Thank you for your patience while we resolved this and we apologize for any disruption to your work day.

Issue Summary:

From 1:00pm PST on January 23, 2024 to 2:30pm PST on January 23, 2024, some users encountered trouble uploading, downloading, and viewing files in Slack.

We determined that an API call was not functioning correctly, and made a change to mitigate the issue. The upload problems were caused by a slowing down of responses due to a higher than normal volume of API calls due to the malfunction. This issue has been resolved and steps have been taken to avoid it happening in the future.

5:28 PM PST

We're seeing signs of recovery but uploading/downloading remain degraded though some attempts are successful. Our investigation is ongoing and we'll be back with another update as soon as information is available.

2:04 PM PST

Users may be having trouble viewing images as they are not loading, while others may be able to complete these actions but more slowly than expected.

We're actively looking into this, and we'll report back as more information becomes available.
